New Delhi, May 12 (Inditop.com) The Jamia Milia Islamia will make alternative arrangements for students staying in its hostel before hosting 700 guests during the upcoming Commonwealth Games, Vice chancellor Najeeb Jung said Wednesday.

Reacting to news reports about the likelihood of students from other universities in the capital being uprooted from their hostels during the Games, the varsity said its students will not be dislodged and will be provided alternative accommodation.

“Students are our number one priority. We are committed to our students and want them to be comfortable and secure. Once the Games are over, the students will enjoy world class accommodation and sports facilities on campus,” Jung said.

The varsity will host 700 guests on campus during the Games. The university has received funds from the government to upgrade hostel and infrastructure to accommodate them. It is also going to be a venue for practice sessions of rugby 7’s and table tennis.

“To ensure that the students’ schedule is not disrupted, the varsity has decided that the work to be carried out to upgrade hostel and infrastructure will be taken up only when students go home for summer vacations,” he added.
