Johannesburg, July 5 (DPA) A labour court in South Africa will decide Monday on the legality of a strike planned to start next week which could hit construction work at the country’s World Cup stadiums.
Around 70,000 construction workers plan one of the country’s biggest strikes in recent years from Wednesday to support wage demands.
The strike is expected to halt work on stadiums for next year’s finals as well as roads and a new high-speed urban rail project.
Workers are demanding a 13-per-cent pay increase, while the construction industry has offered 10 per cent.
