Kolkata, Feb 29 (IANS) Dubai-based multinational company Anglian Holdings, which has an investment in Danish club FCV Vikings, Wednesday announced they have bought a 25 percent stake in the I-League team Shillong Lajong Football Club.

Company chief executive Dhruv Ratna told mediapersons that the company would use its association with the two clubs to promote Indian football globally.
“We would be actively looking at scouting, training, and promoting Indian football talent, using Shillong Lajong FC and FCV Vikings as channels to take Indian football to the world.”
SLFC, established in 1983 in Shillong, Meghalaya, is a successful community-owned club with a strong fan base in India’s north-east.
Under the deal, SLFC would able to exchange players, professional knowledge and expertise with FCV Vikings.
FCV Vikings is based in Denmark’s Slagelse, where it has its own stadium with a seating capacity of 10,000 and training grounds.
Larsing Ming Sawyan, General Secretary, SLFC said: “We are appreciative of FCV Vikings and are confident that their expertise and training skill will help Lajong’s players to take their game to the next level.”
“We are delighted that the company has come forward to support Lajong and we believe that it is a step in the right direction as far as Indian football is concerned,” he added.
Lajong, which means “Our Own” in Khasi language, is in the tenth position in the current I-League standings.
