Kolkata, May 5 (IANS) Going by the number of spectators wearing Pune Warriors jerseys, it seemed a mini Pune had descended at the Eden Gardens where their favourite team was pitted against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League Saturday.
The number of flag sellers and face painters were nearly double for the derby in comparison to other match days.
“Normally I sell around 15-20 jerseys mostly of KKR at Rs. 50 each but today the business has been very brisk. I have already sold nearly 40 that too at a higher price,’ said a vendor. He added the the Pune Jerseys sold like hot cakes.
The stand inside the stadium looked bright with team Pune blue and roars of ‘Dada Dada’-(Pune captain Sourav Ganguly is fondly called) could be heard far away.
As their favourite Dada walked out to the ground for toss, the stadium erupted in loud roars cheering the player who has given them many a memorable sporting moments.
Another deafening roar went up when Ganguly’s name was announced on the public address system.
