New Delhi, Feb 3 (Inditop.com) Online ticket sales for the Hero Honda World Cup, beginning Feb 28-March 13, opened here Wednesday.

Suresh Kalmadi, joint chairman of the organising committee of the World Cup, gifted the first ticket to Delhi chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at a function here.

The tickets can be purchased online on the official website www.msnindia.com/worldcuphockey.

Tickets will be available from February 12 at select Cafe Coffee Day outlets, Union Bank of India branches, and 24X7 convenience stores. The details have been provided on the official website.

The tickets have been classified in four categories — general admission, general admission premium, VIP and VVIP. The price for the first category of ticket is Rs.100 for the group stage matches and Rs.150 for the finals. Fans will have to dole out Rs.500 and Rs. 750 for the general admission premium category. The VIP rates are Rs.1000 for the group stages and and Rs.1500 for the final while for VVIPs, it is Rs.5,000 and

Rs 7,500.

In the group stages, fans will be entitled to see all the three matches of the day on one ticket.

“The tickets have been priced reasonably. I am sure that hockey lovers from Delhi and elsewhere will throng at the National Stadium during the World Cup. It is a great chance for them to give hockey in India a huge boost,” Kalmadi said.

FIH president Leandro Negre said, “The start of the sale of tickets is a big step to a wonderful hockey event. I am sure that the ticket sales will go beyond our expectations.”
