Chennai, Jan 8 (Inditop.com) Sharp showers delayed the start of matches in the $400,000 ATP Aircel Chennai Open tournament here Friday.
Spells of rain early afternoon followed by steady drizzle delayed the 5 p.m. start, but organisers were hopeful of getting some play on court.
More showers are forecast for the weekend and Monday, thus putting the tournament schedule in jeopardy, though, as yet, officials were unwilling to make any statement on the fate of India’s only ATP event beyond stating that mopping up equipment was in readiness.
