Bangalore, May 30 (IANS) Mohan Sardar, the 14-year old from Kolkata, carded a par 72 to take the lead with a two-round total of 148 in the Toyota IGU Southern India juniors golf tournament at the KGA course here Wednesday.

Sardar (Royal Calcutta Golf Club) snatched the lead away from DLF Golf and Country Club’s Piyush Sangwan, who had a four-over 76, to end the second day on the top of the leader board in the combined under 14 and under 18 categories while Tollygunge’s Viraj Madappa was in the third spot with a combined score of 151.
Overnight leader in the under-18 category, Mysore’s Yashas Chandra was replaced at the top by Delhi golfer Shubhankar Sharma (ITC Classic Golf Resort) who carded a 4-over 76 for a total of 151 (75-76) to emerge the sole leader in his age category as Chandra went 6-over 78 for a two- day total of 152.
Shubankar Sharma, winner of the Eastern India Juniors, had a shaky start to his day with bogeys on the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th holes, but he held his nerves over the back nine to finish the day as the leader in the under-18 category.
Chandigarh Junior Open champion Chandra and Delhi’s Arjun Singh were tied in second position, two strokes behind the leader.
