Washington, Aug 3 (Inditop.com) India’s Somdev Devvarman qualified for the main draw of the $1,402,000 Legg Mason Tennis Classic, beating French Jousselin Ouanna 2-6, 6-1, 7-5.
Somdev, who began his pro-career here last year, rallied from a set down in the final qualifying round Sunday. He was trailing 3-4 in the decider but fought back, breaking Ouanna in the eighth and 12th game, to win the set and the match.
Somdev has been a favourite in Washington, winning back-to back National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championships in 2007 and 2008 when studying at University of Virginia.
He will open against Japanese qualifier Yuichi Sugita in the first round.
