Cape Town, April 19 (Inditop) Rahul Dravid, who played a crucial knock in Bangalore Royal Challengers’ 75-run win over Rajasthan Royals in an Indian Premier League (IPL) tie Saturday, said the conditions here are ideal for his batting.

Royal Challengers were struggling at 17-3 but Dravid arrested the rot with a responsible 66 off 48 balls, that fetched him the man of the match award.

“I am in good touch after the tour on New Zealand. Conditions like this are ideal for player like me and give a fair chance to play cricket. The plan was to play till the end and I am happy the way I hit the ball,” said Dravid, who was replaced by Kevin Pietersen as the captain after Challengers finished last in the inaugural edition.

“You have to play good cricketing shots when the ball is moving. I played a few balls to set myself in the middle and then played strokes. It was a good start,” Dravid said.

Anil Kumble, who took five wickets giving just five runs to bowl out Rajasthan Royals for 58 runs, said it was a fantastic beginning for the team.

“Our performance was not that good last year. It’s great for the team to start on a winning note. I am happy with my performance as it has come after five months after my retirement.”
