Kolkata, Sep 11 (Inditop.com) Top guns of Indian rallying return to Kolkata after a gap of 10 years for the Speed Rally de Kolkata to be held here from Sep 18 to 20.
A resurgent Team MRF, who swept the top three positions at K-1000, and the Red Rooster Racing, led by defending champion Vikram Mathias and home hero Amittrajit Ghosh, will renew their battles of speed as the SPEED Indian National Rally Championship turns East for the Rally de Kolkata, the third of the six rounds.
Sponsored by Bharat Petroleum, Speed, Rally de Kolkata will have a 1.8-km special stretch to serve as a platform for the drivers to showcase their talent in front of the sports lovers.
The total distance of the rally will be 560.2 km.
The rally will consist of two special stages at Durgapur, about 180 km from here, and the spectacular Super Special Stage to be held in the city at Jadavpur Stadium for the benefit of the fans who want to watch all the thrills of rallying from a single vantage point.
While the three Special Stages to be run twice would cover a distance of 113.16 km the transport section comprises of 411.68 km and 35 km of SSS. With a spectacular table jump, water spot, tight corners, fast corners and exciting dips the Super Special Stage of 1.8 km is expected to bring the rally to a thrilling close for the champagne shower ceremony.
Addressing a press conference here Wednesday, Pro-Sports Promotion Managing Director Annabelle Manwaring said: “We are delighted that Indian rallying returns to Kolkata after a gap of ten years and hope to make it an exciting event for both the drivers and the spectators.”
