Kolkata, Aug 31 (IANS) N. Srinivasan, who stepped aside as BCCI president in the wake of the Indian Premier League betting scandal, is expected to arrive Sunday morning in the city, hours before the board’s emergency working committee meeting.
However, confusion persisted still late Saturday night on whether Srinivasan would attend or preside over the meeting which is scheduled to finalise the dates for the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s annual general meeting.
“As far as I know, he is expected to arrive Saturday morning. But whether he will attend, or preside over the meeting, I don’t know,” said a BCCI vice president.
Srinivasan had stepped aside as the BCCI president June 2 after his son-in-law and Chennai Super Kings Team principal, Gurunath Meiyappan, was arrested for his alleged involvement in the Indian Premier League betting scandal.
Jagmohan Dalmiya was then asked to take over as BCCI’s interim chief to run its day-to-day affairs.
The working committee meeting, the last before the board’s AGM, would pass the accounts which would be ratified by the general body.
Srinivasan is required to sign the accounts for it to be placed at the AGM.
The working committee is also likely to give its approval to some proposals related to the National Cricket Academy.
