Kolkata, Nov 9 (Inditop.com) The cream of India’s junior talent will be on display when the Lalit Suri Junior and Sub-Junior Tour tees off with the Lalit Suri Eastern India Junior Golf Championship here at the Tollygunge Club from Tuesday.

The 72-hole stroke-play event has attracted top names including No.1 on the Indian Golf Union (IGU) Order of Merit Chikkarangappa, No.2 Ashbeer Singh Saini, No.3 Khalin Joshi, No.4 Ankur Chadha and No.5 Trishul Chinnappa, among others.

The Eastern India, in place since 1993, has quickly established itself as one of the top tournaments on the junior circuit.

The Lalit Suri meet has become the breeding ground of some of the top amateurs of the country.

While the Bangalore lad Chikkarangappa is undoubtedly the favourite because of his top billing, Ashbeer, Khalin and Ankur who have created ripples in the senior circuit too, having rubbed shoulders with some of the top players of the country, stand a good chance to emerge as champion.

The tournament assumes importance as the players will earn valuable points based on which they will be ranked and will be considered for selection to the Indian team for international events.

The Tollygunge Club is primed to host the five star event on the IGU’s calendar. The par-70 course tests the golfers in various departments of the game and considering the field, one can expect a stiff competition over the next four days.
