Kolkata, May 1 (IANS) After winning the man of the match award for his allround performance, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Andre Russell on Thursday said his side made good use of the home conditions at the Eden Gardens.

“My role was to play positive and a few balls hit the middle and went over cover, can’t ask for a better start,” Russell said after cracking a 32-ball 55 in a winning cause against Chennai Super Kings.
Replying to Chennai’s challenging 165 for 9 at the Eden Gardens, the hosts reached a decisive 169 for three with one ball to spare to carve out a seven wicket win.
Uthappa (80; 58b, 7×4,1×6) and Russell put on 112 runs off only 64 balls during an unfinished fourth wicket stand to pilot the home side to victory from a position of bother when they were 57 for three in the tenth over.
“We were emphasising on watching the ball. My problem is sometimes I get to the ball and get excited, that’s what he was reminding me of.
“We didn’t have a lot of time to think after Chennai and we just made use of the home conditions,” he said after the match.
