Doha, Jan 2 (DPA) A wrist injury that kept Jo-Wilfried Tsonga from a New Year’s eve start to his season in Abu Dhabi will prevent him from playing in the Qatar Open starting Monday.
The French world number 10 was forced Saturday to pull out of the first ATP week of the new season because of the injury he suffered last week during training.
The 2008 Australian Open runner-up pronounced himself “extremely disappointed not to be able to participate”.
Tsonga now has little more than a fortnight to get fit in time for the Melbourne Grand Slam.
