Karachi, July 6 (Inditop.com) Comeback man Mohammad Yousuf rated his century against Sri Lanka in the Galle cricket Test as the most valuable knock in his career.
After hitting a superb ton on his return to international cricket on the second day of the first Test Sunday, the Pakistani batsman vowed to continue his prolific run.
Yousuf, 34, scored a solid 112 to help Pakistan take a 50-run first-innings lead against the hosts.
“I’ve played some memorable innings in my career but this one is the most valuable for me,” Yousuf said in an interview Monday.
“I was making a comeback to international cricket and needed some runs to regain my confidence. My team also needed me to score and thankfully now it has taken a lead against Sri Lanka,” said Yousuf.
The premier batsman went out of favour last year when he switched allegiance to the unofficial Indian Cricket League (ICL) after being ignored for Pakistan’s Twenty20 squad. Yousuf, along with 20 other Pakistani cricketers, was banned from all cricket by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), over links with the rebel ICL.
However, earlier this summer the PCB pardoned Yousuf and some other ICL rebels after they broke ties with the Twenty20 league. Yousuf was recalled for the tour of Sri Lanka and wasted little time in returning to form by scoring a fluent century on a difficult wicket in Galle.
“It’s because of Allah’s help that I was able to do it,” he said. “I hope to keep scoring runs for my team in the years to come.”
