Lucknow, Aug 10 (Inditop.com) A court here Monday jailed for life a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, caught with weapons on the outskirts of the Uttar Pradesh capital in 2004.

His associate was sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment.

Atharuddin, the LeT terrorist, and his associate Mohammad Irfan were arrested by the police in Chinhat area of the state capital March 12, 2004, and two AK-56 rifles, a huge quantity of ammunition and fake documents were seized from them.

The bench of session/special Prevention Of Terrorist Activities (POTA) Judge Shivanand Mishra held the two men guilty under POTA and other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), district government counsel R.K. Dwivedi told reporters after the sentencing.

A fine of Rs. 820,000 has been imposed on Atharuddin and Rs.570,000 on Irfan, he added.
