Lucknow, Sep 7 (Inditop.com) A Maoist from Jharkhand was arrested after a gunfight in the forests of Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district, about 250 km from here, police said Monday.

Raj Mohan was nabbed Sunday evening in the dense Devgarh forests, while he was going to meet some of his aides to plan attacks in the districts of Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, police alleged.

“We managed to arrest Mohan, an active member of the dreaded Munni Vishwakarma gang that primarily operates in Jharkhand, in a joint operation carried out by the police and the PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary)” District Police Chief Pritendra Singh told Inditop.

Ten detonators, 20 gelatin rods, a revolver and several live cartridges were recovered from Mohan’s possession, he added.

An operation is underway in the Devgarh forests to nab Mohan’s aides.

“Mohan has told us that nearly eight of his friends, armed with sophisticated weapons, including AK 47s, are camping in the Devgarh forests,” police inspector Ravindra Yadav said.
