Ranchi, Nov 20 (Inditop.com) One passenger was killed and 25 others injured when Maoist guerrillas blew up a train in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, a railway official said Friday.

The passenger train was blown up Thursday 9.30 p.m. Six coaches of the train were derailed by the blast.

“One person was killed and 25 others were injured when a passenger train was blown up between Manoharpur and Posaita railway stations. The injured are being treated in Orissa,” Chakradharpur railway division public relations officer Vivek Srivastav told Inditop.

The Maoist guerrillas blew up the Tatanagar-Bilaspur passenger train while it was passing through a forest. According to police, Maoist rebels believed that the train was carrying hundreds of paramilitary troopers.

The movement of paramilitary forces is taking place as elections begin in Jharkhand Nov 25.

Half a dozen trains have been diverted.

“The restoration work of railway track is on,” Srivastav said.

Kolhan region Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Manoj Mishra said: “There were two simultaneous blasts. In each blast, Maoist rebels used 35 to 40 kg explosives. It is a mindless violence of Maoist rebels.”
