Srinagar, Sep 29 (Inditop.com) Three paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and a woman bystander was wounded in a militant attack in north Kashmir’s Sopore town Tuesday, police said.
A senior police officer said separatist guerrillas fired at a CRPF patrol party near the old bus stand in the town, 54 km from here, critically injuring three troopers and the woman.
“All the injured were taken to sub-district hospital in Sopore where the three critically wounded jawans identified as Ramesh Alohia, Pratap Singh and D.R. Singh succumbed to their injuries,” the officer told Inditop here.
The troopers belonged to CRPF’s 179 battalion.
Tension gripped the area after the incident as security forces surrounded and searched the area in and around the bus stand.
On Monday, security forces had gunned down three top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants during a cordon and search operation in south Kashmir’s Tral town.
A woman was also killed in the crossfire in the town where a complete shut down was observed Tuesday.
