Jammu, Oct 21 (Inditop.com)  Three terrorists, including a Hizb-ul-Mujahideen district commander, were killed in a gun battle with security forces in the Mahre forests in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir early Wednesday, police said.

“Among the dead is district commander of terrorist outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahideen Mushtaq Ahmad alias Maqsood,” Inspector General of Police (Jammu Zone) Ashok Gupta told reporters.

He said Maqsood was involved in a number of terrorist activities in the area.

Two other militants killed in the gun battle have been identified as Mohammad Rafiq and Mohammad Irshad.

Acting on a tip off, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army launched a joint operation in the Mahre forests, where a group of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists were hiding. Three terrorists were killed in the gun battle.

Mahre is about 150 km north of Jammu and is one of the places where militants are active.

“During search operations, two AK-47 rifles, one pistol, three grenades and mobile phones were recovered,” Gupta said.
