Kolkata, Feb 22 (Inditop.com) Two Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) activists were shot dead by suspected Maoists in West Bengal’s Purulia district early Monday, police said.
The incident took place at Dulukti village when a group of Maoist ultras abducted the duo – Baleswar Singh Sardar and Karali Mahato – from their homes and shot them dead in a nearby forest area.
“While taking the two, the Maoists reportedly said they would take them to a forest area for some dialogue. Later, both Sardar and Mahato were found dead this (Monday) morning,” a police officer said.
Some Maoist posters, which said that Sardar and Mahato used to act as police informers, were also recovered from the spot.
Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is scheduled to visit Purulia Feb 26-27 and Bankura, another Maoist-infested district, to review the law and order situation in the region.
