Srinagar, Aug 31 (Inditop.com) Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and 14 people injured Monday as separatist guerrillas struck twice within 30 minutes here in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
Guerrillas shot dead the two men who were on duty in the city centre Lal Chowk in the afternoon.
“Both ‘jawans’ (soldiers) were shot in the head and they succumbed to their injuries in the police hospital,” a police officer said.
Scores of police and CRPF personnel immediately swooped on the area to hunt for the attackers but in vain.
Within half an hour, militants tossed a grenade at a CRPF bunker near the main bus stand at Batmallo, injuring 10 civilians, two paramilitary personnel and two policemen.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks during the holy month of Ramadan.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, is dotted with security bunkers covered by nets to bounce off grenades.
