The CBSE has revised its Affiliation Bye-Laws to mandate the use of NCERT textbooks for schools, effective immediately. The new guidelines, detailed in Chapter 2, Clause 2.4.7, require schools to use NCERT or SCERT books for Classes I to VIII and CBSE books for Classes IX to XII. Schools must also ensure that all supplementary materials and digital content align with national frameworks and avoid objectionable content. A list of prescribed books must be published on school websites.
