External affairs minister S Jaishankar visited the Maldives from August 9 to August 11, marking the first high-level interaction since Mohamed Muizzu became president. Jaishankar’s trip followed Muizzu’s visit to India for the swearing-in of the new cabinet. Discussions with Maldivian counterpart Moosa Zameer and President Muizzu focused on development cooperation, emphasizing India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and Vision ‘SAGAR’.
