The Navy, not Maharashtra state government, constructed the 35-foot Shivaji statue in Sindhudurg which collapsed, deputy CM Fadnavis said, while blaming inadequate local factor considerations and stated plans for a bigger statue. Opposition, led by Aaditya Thackeray, criticized the ruling BJP, alleging corruption and hasty installation before elections.
