A severe winter storm hit the central US, bringing snow, ice, strong winds, and freezing temperatures, causing hazardous travel conditions and significant disruptions. States of emergency were declared in several states, and thousands of flights were canceled. The storm also caused numerous vehicle accidents, school closures, and even a fatal avalanche in Wyoming.
