The Supreme Court granted bail to Jalaluddin Khan accused under UAPA, underscoring the principle ‘bail is rule, jail is exception’ even in serious allegations. Justices Abhay S Oka and Augustine George Masih emphasised that denying bail in deserving cases violates fundamental rights. Khan was booked for allegedly renting his house to members of the banned Popular Front of India.
