The Supreme Court instructed the CBI to file an updated status report on the investigation into the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata by September 17. It criticized the West Bengal government for mishandling evidence and noted that an ongoing doctors’ strike, protesting the incident, has resulted in 23 deaths.
