Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the opposition on Tuesday during discussions on the Union Budget. She criticized senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, remarking that “Harvard and Oxford educated” leaders failed to control inflation due to “reckless policies.” Sitharaman highlighted that during the UPA era, the nation experienced double-digit inflation as the Congress government struggled to manage the economy after the 2008 global financial crisis, which she noted was less complex than the Covid-19 pandemic.
