Islamabad, Jan 10 (IANS) At least 34 people were killed and more than 100 injured in two blasts that occurred in Pakistan Thursday.
In the first blasts, at least 22 people were killed and 65 injured in Pakistan’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
The blast, which was earlier perceived to be a cylinder blast, in Swat district was actually of an improvised explosive device, Geo News reported. Several of the wounded were in critical condition.
In the second incident, at least 12 people, including two children, were killed while 40 others sustained injuries when a bomb exploded in Quetta city in the country’s Balochistan province.
Those killed and the injured included a para-military trooper and five children, Xinhua reported. At least 10 people, including two children, were critically injured, said hospital sources.
The incident occurred at 3.50 p.m. near a check-post of para-military Frontier Corps (FC) in the city’s Bacha Khan area. The bomb was planted inside a car parked near the check-post.
The explosion destroyed six vehicles and several houses, shops and offices while creating a two-foot deep crater at the blast site.
