Dhaka, Nov 1 (IANS) A total of 25 Bangladeshi migrants have been arrested in Britain for working illegally at businesses across the country, while a Bangladeshi restaurant owner has been jailed for employing and accommodating such migrants.

The UK Border Agency is now working to deport the 25 men as soon as possible, the Daily Star reported citing a statement from the British High Commission in Dhaka.

The restaurant owner has been jailed for six months.

The workers were arrested in operations in Devon, Cornwall, Gloucester, Hereford, Buckinghamshire, Newcastle upon Tyne, Aberdeen and South Wales.

The migrants worked illegally in restaurants. The businesses may face fines of up to 10,000 pounds for each illegal worker.

‘Where we find people who are in Britain illegally, we will seek to remove them. But we also want to send out a strong message to employers,’ a spokesman said.
