New Delhi, May 26 (IANS) Twnetyseven cases of spurious drugs have been reported from across India under the government’s whistle blower scheme to weed out counterfeit medicines, officials said Wednesday.
The policy encourages vigilant public participation in the detection of movement of spurious drugs in the country. However, many cases were found not to be genuine.
In the north, 22 cases have been reported and 10 investigated. Only one case was reported from the south zone. Two cases were reported from the east zone and one case each from the west and Hyderabad.
Under the scheme, informers get rewards for providing concrete information about spurious drugs to regulatory authorities.
