Ankara, July 24 (IANS) A major haul of cannabis weighing 4.9 tonnes and with an estimated worth of $742 million was seized in Turkey, Xinhua reported Wednesday.

The drive was launched by Turkish security forces in Diyarbakir province’s Lice border town Tuesday with the assistance of 20 helicopters and several unmanned aerial vehicles, a government statement said.
Turkey has long been a key transit point along the drug smuggling route from Asia and the Middle East to Europe.
