Kabul, Dec 4 (IANS) At least 42 Taliban militants have been killed and 37 arrested in a nationwide anti-terrorism crackdown in Afghanistan, the interior ministry said Sunday.

The militants were killed in seven joint operations launched by the Afghan National Police, Afghan army and NATO-led coalition forces in Nangarhar, Laghman, Balkh, Kandahar, Helmand, Khost and Ghazni provinces Saturday, Xinhua reported citing a ministry statement.

Weapons and ammunition were also seized in the raids.

The Taliban are yet to comment.
