Thimpu, May 31 (IANS) Kolkata’s Abhinansu Borthakur and Neeraj Choudhary proved to be too good for their Bhutanese opponents Thinley Norbu and Kinley Wangchuk in the men’s doubles final at the inaugural India-Bhutan Friendship Tennis Championships here on Sunday.

The duo won 6-1,6-3. However, in the men’s singles final, countless unforced errors forced Abhinansu to go down against Nagaland’s Vilasier Khate at the synthetic courts of the Bhutan Tennis Federation.
In the opening set, it was 4-4 where India No.32 Abhinansu dropped his serve but then immediately broke back Khate, to take the score to 5-5. Here again Abhinansu was broken, thereby giving Khate a 6-5 lead and on serve.
Khate did not go wrong here as he capitalised on the opportunity and took the set 7-5.
The second set was played out in a similar way as Abhinansu dropped his serve at 4-4 again and Khate eventually wrapped up the match 7-5,6-4.
Earlier, Kolkata had already settled with the women’s singles trophy as Tulana Nan got the better of Bhutan’s Pema Azarenka Chenzom in the final held on Friday.
