Abu Dhabi, April 28 (Inditop) With the launching of new flights between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the air traffic between the two nations has grown considerably even at a time of global slowdown.
Driven by UAE’s national career Etihad’s growing capacity to South India and increased weekly frequencies, traffic at the Abu Dhabi International Airport from and to India increased by 32 percent, making India the largest market, WAM news reported.
According to the latest traffic figures for the UAE airport, traffic from Pakistan has also grown by 12.7 percent. Britain remains Abu Dhabi’s third largest market while Saudi Arabia a close fourth, according to the figures.
“We are happy to say our passenger figures are still growing. Naturally, attracting new airlines contributes to this growth, however we believe the excitement and interest in Abu Dhabi that exists within international markets drives a large part of the growth,” said Mohammed Al Bulooki, the vice president of airline marketing and aeronautical revenue of Abu Dhabi.
“With many exciting new developments to look forward to and with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) predicting an increase in capacity for tourism… we expect Abu Dhabi’s popularity as a destination for commerce and tourism to continue to increase,” Al Bulooki said.
The overall passenger inflow at the Abu Dhabi International Airport has increased by 7.9 percent in March compared to the corresponding month in the previous year. According to the latest figures, the average daily passenger inflow at the airport was 24,833 during the said period.
