Kabul, Aug 1 (IANS) A senior police official in Afghanistan’s Helmand province was killed along with his two bodyguards Wednesday when a roadside bomb struck his vehicle, Xinhua reported.

Shah Khan was the police chief of the province’s Shamozai district.
“The incident happened around noon when a mine planted by militants struck the vehicle of Shah Khan, the police chief of Shamozai district, killing him along with two of his bodyguards on the spot,” a senior government official said while blaming Taliban militants for the attack.
The Taliban were yet to comment on the incident.
