Sharjah, Dec 28 (IANS/WAM) Air Arabia, the low-cost airline from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has bagged the award for best low-cost international carrier at the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) Travel Awards 2011.

The award was handed over by Union Minister for Tourism Subodh Kant Sahay and TAAI president Iqbal Mulla at the association’s recently-held diamond jubilee celebrations in Mumbai.

Adel Ali, chief executive officer of Air Arabia, said: ‘We at Air Arabia are extremely elated to have won this award, particularly for it coming from our fellow partner Travel Agents Association of India. This recognises our efforts in offering the best while continuing to offer value for money to all our stakeholders.’

Air Arabia has completed six years of operations in India. It operates flights from Sharjah to 13 Indian cities — New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Jaipur, Kochi, Nagpur, Coimbatore, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Dabolim.

From three main hubs, Sharjah, Casablanca in Morocco and Alexandria in Egypt, the carrier serves a network of 70 international routes spread across Europe, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia and North Africa.
