The Hague, Aug 29 (IANS) Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur have agreed on the transfer of 21-year-old midfielder Christian Eriksen to the London football club for a fee of 12 million euros ($15.9 million), Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported Thursday.

According to De Telegraaf the transfer fee will be paid in three installments and can increase by another 500,000 euros if Tottenham Hotspur qualifies for the Champions League next season. Eriksen still has to agree personal terms with the Premier League club. His contract at Ajax runs out in 2014, reports Xinhua.
“His departure is a huge loss, because Chris is very important for us,” reacted Ajax coach Frank de Boer in De Telegraaf.
“We have always got along very well. Players who are good on the field and also the perfect professional are the best players for a coach.”
A Danish international, Eriksen moved from Odense BK to Ajax in 2008 and he made his debut in 2010. So far he has played 113 Dutch league matches for Ajax in which he scored 25 times.
Tottenham are about to finalise the transfer of Gareth Bale from London to Real Madrid, for around 100 million euros.
Meanwhile, Italian football club AS Roma announced the sale of 21-year-old Argentine forward Erik Lamela to Tottenham for 30 million euros, including up to five million euros in bonus payments. Both the deal with Eriksen and the deal with Lamela have not been confirmed by Spurs yet.
