Lahore, July 7 (Inditop.com) Pakistan’s Federal government and the government of Punjab province Tuesday re-submitted appeals in the Supreme Court against the release of Hafiz Saeed, the alleged mastermind of Mumbai terror attacks, a media report said.

Earlier, the Supreme Court returned the government’s appeal filed by Deputy Attorney General Shah Khawar citing technical objections, Dawn newspaper reported.

The Jamaat-ud-Daawa chief had been placed under house arrest after a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution banned his organisation.

Saeed was released in June after the Lahore High Court ruled that he cannot be kept under house arrest without any evidence.

India and the US have demanded that strict action be taken against Saeed for his alleged role in the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
