Sharjah, April 8 (Inditop.com/WAM) Aesthetic intricacies of 333 artists from 28 countries are on display at the Art of Arabic Calligraphy 2010 being held in Sharjah.

The biennial show featuring masterpieces of calligraphy, photography and Arabic letters will be open till June 7.

The show was inaugurated Wednesday by Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who visited the exhibition and interacted with the participants.

The event “further establishes its status on the beauty of the scripts of the holy Quran. It hosts hundreds of participants from a host of countries such as Japan, China, Korea, and Germany,” said Abdullah Al-Owais, Director General of Sharjah Department of Culture and Information.

A total of 333 artists are taking part in the exhibition showcasing 821 artworks from across 28 countries, Al Owais said.

The event also hosts 21 individual and joint exhibitions at the cultural centres in Kalba, Khor Fakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn.

Seminars and workshops on Arabic calligraphy will also be held during the event.
