Dhaka, Sep 30 (IANS) Twelve Asian nations, including India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Nepal, are participating in a three-day tourism fair that kicked off here Thursday.
‘Combined efforts in the promotion of tourism will increase people to people contact that helps in establishing world peace,’ Tourism Minister G.M. Quader said during its opening at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
The expo is jointly organised by Parjatan Bichitra, a leading tourism magazine in Bangladesh, the National Tourism Organization and the Bangladesh Tourism Board.
It is considered the biggest tourism fair in Bangladesh, and is being held since 2006, Xinhua reported.
Tour operators, airlines, hotels and other service providers from the public and private sectors from China, Japan and the Philippines, among others, are participating.
Organisers are expecting 30,000 visitors, including foreign buyers, media professionals and corporate representatives.
