Macau, Feb 28 (IANS) Achanta Sharath Kamal and Subhajit Saha were knocked out of the quarterfinals of the Asian Table Tennis Championships men’s doubles, losing 0-3 to Chu Yan Leung and Yuk Cheung of Hong Kong here Tuesday.
The Indian pair, who ousted the second-seeded Chinese pair of Ma Lin and Zhang Jike in straight games in the second round, lost 5-11, 8-11, 6-11.
In the pre-quarterfinal, the duo beat local pair of Kin Wa Leong and Chi Pan Che 9-11, 11-8, 12-14, 11-2, 11-8, but failed to capture the same form against their Hong Kong opponents and were disposed of in less than 40 minutes.
Both Sharath and Saha complemented each other in their match against Macau and attacked when needed and slowed down when the opposition was strong. This ploy, somehow, did not work against Hong Kong players, who never switched off from the first point they took against the Indian duo.
There was more bad news for India as the pair of A. Amalraj and Sanil Shetty lost 2-3 to the Chinese duo of Ma Long and Wang Hao in the pre-quarterfinals. They have also lost their singles matches.
