Kigali (Rwanada), July 14 (IANS) Austria’s second division club Lask Linz FC has signed Rwandan defender Emery Bayisenge on a one-year deal.
The 21-year-old defender who has also captained Rwanda’s U-20 and U-23, is described as an “excellent development prospect” by the management of his former club of the military side of Rwanda Patriotic Army (APR FC), reports Xinhua.
The right-footed defender made several appearances for Rwandan national team Amavubi (Wasps) stars where he also captained.
A senior manager of Rwanda’s military club APR FC for which Bayisenge was playing before joining European league said the player was intelligent and extremely eager to learn.
“We are very proud of him and we hope he will also make Rwanda proud all over the world,” said the secretary general of APR FC, Adolphe Kalisa.
Before joining Austria’s second division club Lask Linz FC, he has failed to impress since he was attempting to seal a move to French Ligue 1 side Toulouse FC and the Belgian first division team Essevee FC.
Bayisenge is the third Rwandan player to be recruited recently by clubs in European leagues after Salomon Nirisarike who joined Belgium’s second league side Antwerp FC in 2012 and Elias Uzamukunda joined the French club Cannes in 2008.
