Islamabad, Oct 8 (Inditop.com) The bullet-riddled bodies of 15 suspected Taliban militants were found Thursday in Pakistan’s Swat region, an official said.

“I can confirm that 15 bodies were found today (Thursday) and our information is that they are militants,” Geo TV quoted army spokesman Major Mushtaq Khan as saying.

“They might have been the victims of infighting among militant groups or killed by local people.”

Authorities were alerted by the residents in the Swat town of Mangalore about the bodies dumped in three different areas.

Naeemullah Khan, a doctor, said that 15 bodies were brought to the rural health centre and all of them were apparently shot dead during the previous 12 hours.

The military claims to have almost cleared the valley of Islamist fighters and says the dead rebels were killed by local residents, but human rights groups have accused the army of extra-judicial killings, the media report said.

The military denies any responsibility and said no orders have been issued to execute suspected militants.

The army statement Thursday said that militants had fired eight rockets at the Razmak army camp in tribal North Waziristan, wounding four soldiers.
