Rio de Janeiro, March 1(IANS) Corinthians football club president Mario Gobbi has shown interest in creating a team in China.
With the arrival of Chinese striker Chen Zhizhao, the club hopes to attract a new fan base and find a niche in the Chinese market.
Corinthians currently owns a club in Argentina, called Corinthians-Santa Fe. Gobbi projects the creation of a joint team in China not only for financial reasons, but to nurture new talent as well.
Chen is expected to arrive at Corinthians by the end of the week. Fans are excited and curious about the 23-year-old and have begun to vote on a nickname for the player, such as Chen, Cheng and Zizao, Xinhua reported Thursday.
