London, Jan 29 (IANS) A Briton who raped a woman in 1986 has been jailed for eight years.
Officials were investigating 46-year-old Martin Eke last year after he assaulted an ex-girlfriend. When they checked his DNA, they found it matched samples found on the rape victim’s clothing.
The woman died in 2000 from kidney failure, aged 36. She was attacked as she walked home from a pub in Folkestone, Kent, in 1986, the Daily Express reported.
The judge at the Canterbury crown court termed it a “cruel, degrading and pitiless” crime.
“Sadly, it has been too late for the woman to see her rapist receive justice but her friends and family are still here to see this,” the judge said.
