Bridgetown (Barbados), July 2 (IANS/CMC) Chasing 281 for victory, West Indies made a shaky start in their bid after another incisive spell of fast bowling from Fidel Edwards in the second Test against India here Saturday.
At lunch, West Indies reached 51 for two in their second innings on the final day at Kensington Oval, with opener Adrian Barath not out on 23 and left-handed compatriot Darren Bravo not out on five.
Lendl Simmons was caught at first slip for 14 off Ishant Sharma, and Ramnaresh Sarwan, whose form has also been lean, was caught at second slip for eight, leaving West Indies 27 for two.
Earlier, Edwards collected five wickets for 76 runs from 23 overs, as India declared their second innings on 269 for six about an hour and five minutes into the day.
The fast bowler ripped out all three Indian wickets that fell, after the visitors resumed from their overnight total of 229 for three.
He removed Virat Kohli for 27 and V.V.S. Laxman for 87 – both to second slip catches to West Indies captain Darren Sammy – as well as Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni caught at mid-off for one.
West Indies trail 0-1 in the three-match series, following a 63-run defeat in the first Test at the Sabina Park in Jamaica.
