Santiago (Chile), Oct 24 (IANS) Chile’s Universidad Catolica (UC) will face Brazil’s Sao Paulo at San Carlos de Apoquindo stadium in Santiago Thursday night for a quarterfinal spot in CONMEBOL (South American Football Confederation) Copa Sudamericana.
UC has a slight advantage over Sao Paulo after tying the latter 1-1 in their visiting first leg, reports Xinhua.
If they draw 0-0, UC will go to the quarterfinals. But if the result is a draw with more than one goal, Sao Paulo will qualify for the next round.
In the 2012 edition of Copa Sudamericana, Sao Paulo eliminated UC in the semifinals and went on to claim the championship.
UC’s Uruguay coach Martin Lasarte has called up Cristopher Toselli, Cristian Alvarez, Marko Biskupovic, Hans Martinez, Alfonso Parot, Fernando Meneses, Tomas Costa, Fernando Cordero, Milovan Mirosevic, Nicolas Castillo e Ismael Sosa back into the side.
Sao Paulo, who are missing six starting players, will include Rogerio Ceni, Rafael Toloi, Rodrigo Caio, Edson Silva, Douglas, Paulo Miranda, Denilson, Maicon, Paulo Henrique Ganso (as known as “Jadson”), Ademilson y Aloisio.
