Beijing, June 2 (IANS) Around 100,000 people were arrested in China last year due to their alleged involvement in narcotics-related crimes, a government report said.

The report issued by the the National Narcotics Control Commission said officials cracked 89,000 drug-related crime cases in 2010, the China Daily reported.

A total of 175,000 drug users were put under isolated drug rehabilitation, and 96,000 others in ‘neighbourhood treatment programmes’, according to the report.

It said more than 214,000 people became new drug users in 2010.
